Cabbage was on sale for 20 cents a lbs. Had to get a couple of cheap cabbage meals in there. I did spend a little extra this week. I bought Logan 50 bucks worth of groceries and stuff for his dorm. I felt horrible leaving him with nothing. Guess I can put that under charitable contributions :) I was embarrassed by the food in my cart when I got his groceries..you know, fast salt- laden foods...frozen pizzas...pasta roni....that stuff. I made sure the cashier knew it was for my little brother starting BYU. haha. I also got him some stuff like TP. Gotta have some of that.

Thats right, Logan is no longer with us. SO SAD!!! Now I actually have to get up when Claire gets up...no more sending her to her uncle. I haven't been by myself with the kids during the day since Jack was born. I know, I know...I had it rough huh? Now comes the adjustment to having two kids.

Hopefully we can look at a house we like tomorrow. I'm still pretty heartbroken over the other house. I will never find a yard like that again and all my garden plans are up in smoke but whatever....

Disappointing...

So...I guess something happened with the house that the people were going to buy so they took their house off the market. To say I am disappointed would be an understatement. I went and looked at the houses we have "saved" on the real estate website and none of them interest me anymore. However, I'm not giving up...maybe they will work it out with their next house and things will fall into place.

Good thing I have some cute kids to take up my time

The Ultrasound

It went really well. Jack was so good during it. He just looked at me and smiled big. The doctor said everything looked really good so I guess the doctor will just check again at his 4 month appointment. Logan watched Claire. There was a huge storm today. It only lasted 15-20 minutes but 70+ homes flooded in Draper and a guy got hit by lightning. It broke the record for the most rain in the shortest time in Salt Lake. It was SUPER windy when I got home and Jack and I made it in the door right as the first raindrops started. We missed it though because of living in a basement with no windows :P

We looked at 5 homes today after Brian got off work. Logan stayed with Claire and it was SO nice not to have to chase her. I still REALLY like the house in Pleasant Grove. They weren't home when we looked at the house this time. That was nice because we could open cupboards and really look and not feel awkward. The wife came home as we were looking outside and we chatted for a bit. I really like her. We would totally be friends....we are kindred spirits haha. Her kids were running around playing and would stop and pick a handfull of grapes or a peach. How cool. Brian likes it a lot better too this time around. He thinks he didn't like it the first time because it was just awkward. We're meeting with a mortgage guy on Monday! Exciting! Who knows what will happen.

The weekend

Saturday we went to Temple Square with Bryan, Logan, and two friends from Arkansas who were visiting, Jacqueline and Tasha. It was really nice to visit again. We started off by taking a really quick tour of the Conference center. Every time I go there it amazes me by how big it is. I've gone to conference a couple of times and hope we can go again sometime. We walked by the temple and there were like 8 different weddings going on. Well, at least 8 different couples taking pictures outside so I would guess there were more inside getting married. I was glad I got married at a less busy temple...it would be annoying having to wait for pictures! We hit the south visitors center and the Church History museum. Temple Square is much too big to see in just a few hours. Plus, it's always hard controlling Claire.

After we went to Chili's. Bryan got a HUGE hamburger. I didn't think he would finish it but he did. Man, that kid can eat.

Sunday was church of course. Jack had a outfit change during sacrament and then I had to have Brian take me home during relief society for another one. Guess I should bring at least two additional outfits. Jac and Tasha came over for dinner. I made THIS dessert. Very very yummy!

Monday we went and saw a house in Pleasant Grove. It was a little awkward because the family was there. I LOVED the house though. It had 5 bedrooms and then a storage area, a laundry room, and a food storage room with selves. The yard was great too. They had chickens and grapes, and raspberries, and apple trees, walnut, pear, peach, plum, cherries, nectarines...how awesome is that?? It was by a new neighborhood that had an HOA. There was a walking trail right by the nice white fence that the HOA put up around the house. It's really close to the high school and it's close by State Street but you don't hear the traffic. Anyway, it had all I wanted and more :)

1st of a few...

blog posts today. Anyway, took Jack to the doctor today. I really really liked him. Super nice. Anyway my chunky monkey is 14.8 lbs. Claire wasn't that until 5 or 6 months! I even have him in a 3-6 month outfit and I'll probably pack up his 0-3 clothes this weekend. *sob* He is in the 97th percentile for weight, 76 for height, and 73 for head. He did get two shots. He cried for a minute but stopped as soon as I picked him up. What a good boy. Unfortunately we have to take him to Primary Children's Hospital tomorrow to get a hip ultrasound. The doctor said that his legs weren't symmetrical and he wanted to get it checked for developmental hip dysplasia. If he has it he will probably have to wear a harness for a while. It's better to catch it earlier than later because if it's not fixed by the time they start walking then surgery is the fix, which can lead to arthritis. And he may not even have it. Don't get online to look at things until you know whether or not they have it...much better for your head. So, cross your fingers for us tomorrow that he doesn't have it. The ultrasound is at 10:30.

My cousin Briana watched Claire today while I was at the drs which was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. It was so nice not to have to chase Claire around. Thanks again!!

Claire eating her ranch like a dog. When I told her she wasn't a dog she said..."ummm...cat!" no you aren't a cat..."ummm...horsey! ummm....cow! ummmm....sheep!" No Claire...
She likes to tell us she swims like Ariel.

Happenings

Lets see....Friday my old roommate Krislyn was in town and she came over to visit for a little bit. It was really nice to see her. She is a super good ballerina and is joining a dance company in Oregon. Brian and I would go to her performances at BYU and they were always great.

Saturday we went and looked at a couple of houses in Orem and Pleasant Grove. We really liked the house in Pleasant Grove but the lot was too small. Claire is not fun to take around to houses. Not at all. Hopefully we will look at some more this week. One I am SUPER excited to look at. Like a lot.

Saturday night we got to see Brian's grandparents for a little bit. They had had a family reunion in Idaho and came down to see us. It was nice for Jack to meet his Grandpa Jack. We love you guys! Hope we can see you soon!

Sunday was church. Claire had a hard time in nursery so I ended up going in there with her. I also went back to my food storage meal system and figured out how much I need of each ingredient for those breakfasts, dinners, snacks and desserts for a year. I think that just for cooking I need 110 gallons of water. That is not drinking water or cleaning water. You need a lot of water.

Today Logan, Bryan, and I (and Jack and Claire) went to an all you can eat sushi place in American Fork. It was pretty good but I don't think I would go back. The boys at a TON. I def. didn't eat my moneys worth but between the three of us we ate almost 100$ worth. haha. Claire really enjoyed her edemame. She threw a HUGE fit on the way home. I have no idea what triggered it. She took a long time to calm down too. After her nap we went over to Brianna and Ella's house to hang out. I think Ella and Claire will be friends. They even got a long well for the most part ;) I took home some zucchini and spaghetti squash. I used the zucchini tonight and made an "apple" pie with it, recipe HERE. No one knew the difference. Thanks again Brianna!

Menu and Cloth diapers

Okay here goes...(and the garlic chicken of last menu was GOOD)

It's going to be a pantry meal week. We've had a couple expense things come up so I tried to trim the grocery budget for the week.

Thursday: Chicken and rice

Friday: Fish wraps

Saturday: Fettuccine Alfredo

Sunday: Roast

Monday: Chicken salad english muffins

Tuesday: Beans and cornbread

Expenses:
Household: 10.88

Grocery: 34.68

Food storage: 12.54

Sorry if this is boring to anyone. It helps me to not grab random things (as much as normal) if I know I'm going to put it up on here. Accountability in all thing ya know?

We also went to the health center to get some booster shots. Brian and I both got tetanus and pertussis and I had to get my MMR. The MMR stings but it wasn't bad. She just told me to not get pregnant in the next 6 weeks. No problem ma'am.

I got my cloth diaper sampler in. There are 5 or 6 different kinds and you see what one you like. I tried them yesterday and today during the day but they don't give you enough to use full time. I have a load I have to do today. If he didn't get the cover of two of them dirty I would be able to use them more than once with other fillers. He is so cute in them.

(he rolled over right after I took this)

Sam's Club is doing an Open House this weekend for those who aren't members. We're going to go take a look and see if we'd rather have a Sam's club membership or Costco. We also may set up some appointments with the seller agent to look at some more houses. Should be fun!

Ugh...

the lack of windows is REALLY starting to mess with me. I have a really hard time motivating myself and I'm starting to feel a little down
down
down

kinda like the apartment we first lived in in Sequim....but at least that had a few windows. I NEED sunlight coming in! And it's hot inside and outside. Jack has a heat rash from being inside near a fan so I don't want to take him outside.

I don't know if my mental health can survive 9 months of basement living.

Houses

We are starting our search for a house :) We went out Saturday and looked at 3, two in Spanish Fork and 1 in Mapleton. Two were absolutely nope. They were old and had really really strange construction. One would be really cute if you had the money (and desire) to fix it up. The first one I actually really really liked. It has 4 bedrooms and the potential for 5 if you wanted to finish a part of the basement. It had a really nice fenced in back yard. Only .25 acres but it looked big to me. It had a spot for a garden and a couple of fruits trees...at least a pear and apple that I saw. I didn't venture out much...it was hot. Claire did though...they had a swing set and she thought it was the coolest thing ever. The bedrooms were a little small but that's okay since we rarely spend much time in the bedroom, only to sleep.

On side of the yard with the pear and apple tree. (I REALLY want a house that has mature fruit trees)

The garden side.

Kitchen. Brian doesn't like the counters but he doesn't like anything but granite lol

A basement view
Food storage room!

I think we may go out again in a couple of weeks when the lady we want to use gets down here. Her husband works at Sawtooth and she said that she will give back the closing cost stuff she would normally get for Sawtooth people. Heck yes...more money to put into the house. But I feel bad because the lady we went with on Saturday is super nice :( I just really wanted to look at the Mapleton house because it was so darn cheap.

We also went to the library on Saturday. They charged me 2 bucks to get a new library card even though I haven't used it in like 5 years. Totally lame. Claire was a nightmare. No going to browse for us anymore. I will put holds on and then go when they get in.

Jack smiled for the first official time Saturday. He's grinned and stuff before but this time I knew that it was at me. Sooo cute.

I went to all three hours of church today for the first time since Jack's been here. I met a girl in the nursing lounge (a good place to meet people) and I think we could be friends :) she was cool.
I made English muffins on Thursday. 42 of them. It was hard core :)

What the heck is up with all the media coverage of Chelsey Clinton's wedding? Who gives a fig? (That's Russian...lol) Must be because she is a liberal. I think George Bush's daughter got maybe 1/5 of the coverage when she got married.

I don't get Claire dressed anymore...she does it herself
