Visits

My mom and grandma came to visit last Thursday. We went to the airport to pick them up. Claire was very excited.

Thursday all of the family got together since Rusty and Della were up from St. George. It was really nice meeting my cousin's spouses for the first time. It's so fun to have a great extended family. I wish I would have gotten some pictures...

Friday and Saturday were pretty much shopping filled days. My cousin Amanda came with us Saturday. We decided to go eat at Red Lobster that night. I figured we would have had a wait since it was Saturday but it was surprisinly empty. I guess Halloween is a great night to go out to eat.

Sunday Brian and I had to give talks at church. It was nice that my mom and grandma could be there 1) to hear us talk and 2) to watch the kids so Brian and I could sit on the stand together. We were going to take everyone home after Sacrament and Brian and I would walk back for the rest of church so we could have some time to talk with out kids but Claire REALLY wanted to go to nursery. So we took her and she walked in, threw out her arms and announced very loudly...I'M HOME!! It was hilarious.

Sunday afternoon everyone came over for dinner. It's so nice to have a place that can hold people...not a TON, but enough.

Monday we did some more shopping...what can I say? We like to shop! Monday night was exciting though. My cousin Brianna had her baby! My grandma and I were able to go see little Jaquelene. She was so tiny and absolutely adorable. Brianna looked totally awesome too. Sometimes life is just not fair ;) J/k. I can only hope to look as good as she does.

They left really early Tuesday morning...it was so sad to see them go. It's hard the first day after people leave. I love you both and hope you come out soon!!

Saturday we headed up to Sandy to go to the Self Reliance Expo. It was fun. Brian won a door prize. We had lot of samples of freeze dried stuff which made me feel good about the stuff I bought. I got some Tatler reuseable canning lids that I'm excited to try out. I also got a mix of seeds to try to sprout. We signed up for a ton of giveaways. Hopefully we will be getting a call back! It was worth it just for the fact that we scheduled to have our furnaces cleaned for $19.99 instead of the $49.99 from another place. Score!

The house (warning...long post)

So here is my house...I'm putting a tour up for people who live far away and are interested...feel free to skip it if you aren't :)

The front door/entry way. It's a split level house which isn't ideal but it hasn't been too bad. It's mostly just awkward when people come stop by the house. Inviting them in means going upstairs...but when they aren't staying long its just weird.

The banister makes me a teensy bit nervous but so far so good.
Someday those bookshelves wont be there anymore...the day I buy a nice couch and a nice love seat, so not for a while.
My grandma got us that picture for a house warming gift. I L-O-V-E it. It is gorgeous.
5046270_sempiternal_product here it is not washed out

The dining room. It's small but I think it will be okay. The floor is slate which you may think is nice but it is a pain and a half to sweep.

I love all my cabinets and counters. I love that the refrigerator has an ice machine. No more being embarrassed when people come over and I don't have ice!

My favorite cabinet in the kitchen. It just makes me happy :)

Double closet. One side has coats and our BOB (bug out bags) and the other? I don't know yet.
Kids room. They both sleep in our room right now because we haven't bothered setting up Claire's crib yet. This room has the toys and clothes. It's the biggest room so if we have a boy next it will be the boy's room...if we have a girl then it's the girls room. Our next baby will be a surprise so it will be a while.

Upstairs bathroom
Third bedroom upstairs
Our bedroom...the smallest one upstairs :)
The door in our room heading out to the porch
Master bath

Going down stairs...the start of a picture wall
Downstairs bath
MY FAVORITE ROOM haha I was so excited to be able to devote a whole bedroom to food storage
I went to the scratch and dent sale at Emergency Preparedness. I spent $230 and it would have gone for $688. Whoo hoo!
I'm putting the cannery stuff on this side.
And in the first closet
I need to get more silver shelves. I would like to use this closet for non food stuffs and emergency equipment.
We also have a cold storage room. I'm going to use it for some water storage...with the 55 gallon ones in the garage. I'm also going to use it for things like potatoes and onion and squash and stuff from our garden.
Right now a guest bedroom...may be a school room. It's the biggest one downstairs. And see! A real bed...come visit us and you don't have to sleep on an air mattress. Unless of course someone older than you come to visit at the same time :)
Probably the guest bedroom.

Our basement is pretty empty right now. No doubt it will fill up someday.

Laundry room. I've got some ideas for it...just need to wait a little.

The porch runs the length of the house....I love it.

I've got lots and lots of ideas for the yard...I just gotta plan them out, but it involves fruit trees, a big garden, chickens, grapes, a play set, a clothes line, a compost pile...

We don't have neighbors behind us, there is a pavilion that is part of a churches yard. Not our ward of course...

I love that there is a slide in the middle of the porch. Claire does too :)
There you have it. Our house. I love it and I love the ward we are in. We are happy here...and want you to come visit!!
